“Partial” or incomplete PVD describes early stages of vitreoretinal dehiscence affecting the non-adherent areas of the posterior vitreoretinal interface with persistent attachment to the fovea and optic nerve. Simultaneously, physiologic age-related thickening of the ILM leads to disruption of the MAC complex and weakening of vitreoretinal adhesions. This eventually results in detachment of the entire PVC from the inner retina and anterior collapse of the vitreous body (complete PVD).
